Imaginary Process

November 29, 2017

I've been working on small little things in my studio at home. It's nice. I almost forgot about painting for myself.

The thing I get most spiritual about in art is realizing places/people/scenarios from scribbles and automatic drawing/mark-making. I like that the narrative presents itself to me much like reading/writing a novel simultaneously. It's a lot to do with illustration, though I rarely set out with a goal there's a similar process of culling memory and using imagination to build something from lines, squiggles, and shapes. The weirdest part is that they don't feel like me, and often the process is so automatic the end result seems unfamiliar.
